Barbara Bompani is a Reader (Associate Professor) in Africa and International Development at the Centre of African Studies at the University of Edinburgh and Research Associate at the African Centre for Migration and Society at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg. Dr Bompani’s work focuses on the intersection between religion, politics and development in Africa and on the way religion shapes and influences African citizens in their everyday life. She is currently involved in several research projects that investigate the interconnection between religion and sexuality in East Africa.
